So here we are again...

A lot has happened in the last couple of weeks. I recieved a littile giffed called "Angina Pectoris". It's a different way to tell that I got a "heart attack" for free. Not much I could do about it. The folks at the hospital where so kind to help me and now it's up to me to better my life and live.

So now I am sitting behind the keyboard wondering what I will do now. You all know that my wife and I try to raize a cute girl. And we all know that she needs us more then I need to do this.
Now it doesn't help to pounder your head against the wall and look backwards. Right now it's the future that counts.

Forgive me if I don't update this or that. It's not that important and other things will come and go.

It was a fun to have known you.
You never let me down.
With your 586 (known as the "baby pentium") processor and 128 Mb Ram you where retired but unbeatable!
I left you running in the cold and wet & dust and heat. Sometimes your head dropped off and then we glued it back on again.
Although your younger sisters and brothers showed things better and worked faster, your parts kept on running day after day.
Finally degraded as a router with some goodies in it, you burned out your core today.

It was a pleasure to mess you up, and it will be lot quieter without your buzzing in the background.

May you rest in pieces..

Don't have a lot of time at this moment to code but I tried to do something different fo GGSearch.

I present you the first screenie of GGSearchX (No it's not a search seartool for dirty pictures) a search tool for Linux X windows (in this case KDE only).

I am not thinking that it will be released soon but who knows how things go.

Patents on software are just as wrong as expanding the patent system to literature. With patents on story elements, no movie could be published without having to firstly check whether there is any general idea in the storyline that someone patented during the last 20 years. Here's an example: At first sight, Dirty Dancing and Titanic are two very distinct movies. However, if there were patents on story elements, then the makers of Dirty Dancing could have sued the studio of Titanic. Both movies have a scene in which a poor boy takes a rich girl from a party of her social peers to a dancing party of his group, and she enjoys it. Dirty Dancing came out only nine years before Titanic, so any patent would still have been in force. No one knows whether James Cameron had that Dirty Dancing scene in mind as he wrote the Titanic script. Maybe Cameron never saw Dirty Dancing but the patent (if it existed) could be used against him anyway.

Anwer: Searchtool options > Enable Splash screen.
That's it!, just tick the marker away from this option and you will not see it again at startup.

Yes Finally it's done!

GGSearch v3.8 is released today.
I send out an email to all the donators, betatesters and translators so they have the change to download and use it before the rest of the world will hammer the website.

Thanx goes to Infacta (Groupmail pro), WinRar and Ultraedit for sponsoring their software.

a Special thanx goes to Bill Gray for his help with the Helpfiles and lim chee Aun for his beautiful icons that are now also integrated into the searchtool.

My gratitude goes out to the translators and betatesters, You all did a very good job.

Now I didn't put up the new website yet.. still working on it more or less..

I decided to enable the "Extra search engine" only for the people that donate and to raise the minimum of 2.50 to 5 dollar before you recieve the plugin/addon and extra's...

Why?
The Two dollar and fifty cents was great in 2002 when I started with the searchtool but now with the prices you see all over this country I think it is time for me to raize it to a tiny little bit. Don't forget: In the Netherlands we have to pay tax over the donations and Paypall also wants a share of it so at the end I still would have the $2.50 to spend on Denise :-)

So if you where thinking about donating... Act now!

As soon as 3.8 hits the release stage I will raise the price so until then you can get it for the old donation price. The people that already send in an donation will not notice a differents, the search tool will still be available with all the options for you!

Does size matters?

Now although I think that most of you think of something different now ;-) I wanted to say something about the size of a program...

GGSearch did not shrink in size this time... I tried to do my best to get it smaller and to shrink it from byte to byte but this time...

Version 3.7 is 337.408 bytes (big/small) and the new upcomming version is at this moment 368.640 bytes...
That means an upsize of 31.232 bytes..
Still I can keep it under the 0.5mb so it's not at all that bad...
With the harddrives that are available I gues that most of you will still have gigabytes left for your music and movies so..

does size really matters?

The link titles are working again, added an "email to friend" goodie and placed the latest Mobcam photo on this blog..
Also the blogshares for this blog is fixed so now only one entry should work (ggsearch.blogspot.com/ and ggsearch.blogspot.com are merged).. Sad news is that due to this fix this blog went from 1200 the share to 300 because instead of merging the newest to the oldest they merged the old one into the newest entry :(
But it is climbing again so we will see what the future brings..

Yes Finaly,
I tied al the loose ends again and created a package that looks like the old GGSearch and now I hope it still works like the old GGSearch :-)
Now I still want to change some minor things, I am not happy about the splash/nag screen and about box.. Oh well.. We will see.

Now let's hope the beta does it work like it should..

Well folks, I am coding again!

Yes! Finally I am trying to get into it.
First thing I needed to fix is the "icon does not come back in after shell (explorer) crash".
Seems like I fixed it, so soon a beta will role out for the beta testers.

Also I implemeted a feature so you can add another search engine to search in.. Now I still don't know if this going to be an option for you all or only available for the donators. Time will tell...

The installer needs some tweaking too.. Seems that sometimes the application itsef doesn't get installed (Yes, a bit stupid). I put online a zipped version for those unlucky few but I really must do something about it.

Some people like to crash their explorer shell so that's why I needed to rebuild the trayicon for my applications..

Now this great dude (BWCorvus) at the nbp forum tested a small application that I wrote for it and it seems to work like it should.. It returns even after two crashes!!!
Now I need some time to implement it into nbphide (and also GGSearch)...

I already builded one for FAH and thought it would be handy for me to build one for Newsbin Pro too... Now I talked about it with the dudes from Newsbin and they kinda liked it too... After a few revisions ;-) we decided that it was time to release it for some beta testing...

While playing arround with FAH I thought I could use a little tool for hiding the console version..

New
* added config
* added log stats
* removed bogus text from help dialog
* added version info in about dialog

Download: Fah-hide.rar
contains two files: fahhide.exe & fahhide.ini

Howto install:
Unrar both files into you FAH folder (where FAH4Console.exe is located)

Howto edit config:
Open with notepad fahhide.ini
Change the "none" into your Team Id and Username
Example:
[ID]
TEAMID=35586
USERNAME=GGSearch

Howto run:
Start FAH4Console.exe
Start fahhide.exe
Rightmouseclick on tray icon (see picture)
Click hide to hide and show to show it again. :wink:
Pressing Exit will show the console again and will exit fahhide.

Tired to the bone

Well folks, I am now totally drained :-)

Ria and Denise are both fine..
Yesterday was a complete out of space experience for me. We checked in at 09:45 at the hospital in Sneek (a half hour drive). Before we new it we where both wearing hospital clothes and Ria was getting prepared for surgery. All the people at the hospital where very kind to us and they talked with us the whole nine yards. Although we where both ready for the "Sectio caesarea" it is still a big thing to get trough. I am not going to tell all the detail here but at 13:20 Denise was born, 3340 grams and 50 cm tall (a very beautiful and lovely girl). Around 14:30 we where all united in the nursery and Denise could say hello to her mother. After a few minutes Denise was drinking milk from her mother and so we where both very happy and lucky that these things can go so good.

Now I must say that this "Sectio caesarea" isn't a small thingie, Ria is still in pain and it is very difficult to raise your baby while the rest of your body needs the time to heal, but she does a very good job.
Anyway, I can help with a lot of things like getting Denise to burp and changing the dipers and I think that I do a good job. She burps just like here father ;-)

Now I can write a lot about the two lovers in my live but I think I have gave you enough feed for today. I am tired to the bone and this 2 day daddy needs his rest too.

But incase you would like to uninstall GGSearch (note: This ain't about that nasty toolbar that has hyjacked your browser..) goto your controlpanel > Software > GGsearchtool and uninstall it.
If you wonder where you can find the register entry:
hkey localuser > software > ggsearchtool.

It's that easy folks! Nothing to hide for you all..

Now I think most of you that look for a way to remove ggsearch, are doing it because it's that nasty toolbar that popups this website called ggsearch.com. On the forum I collect complains against them.

Yes, it finaly arived!
Frysianfools has the permission to run Google's Adsense(TM) on it's website..
Now funny thing is that at the same time also Firetrust banners are running there. That's right folks, we are being banner'd!

So why Firetrust software?

People that come here often know that I kept a spam counter.. After 1000000 hits I just didn't kept a log anymore. Funny thing is that at a certain point I could not get to my emailboxes due to to much spam end viruses. So I checked out the application called Mailwasher Free and fell in love with it, upgraded it at once to Mailwasher Pro . It works like this: The program checks the email servers and read a small portion of all email. The program or you decide what to do with it. The program also contains a sort of virus detector and with the filters from this very great forum at computercops you can see the email between the junkmail again!

Benign (or B9) is a program that sits on my laptop between my email program and the outside..
My email program goes to B9 and B9 downloads the leftovers (from Mailwasher Pro) from the email server. It neutralizes or strips out the code that makes viruses, worms and scripts and other potentially harmful things run. B9 is so simple to use that I didn't have to do a lot myself to let it run. You can tweak it but why should I when it is running great?

Now you know why I choose Mailwasher Pro and Benign as banners for Frysanfools. Now I still need some time to tweak the banners, so don't hold it against me when it looks crappie at this moment (yes I am lazy).

The Google adsense is a different kinda thingie..
It's simple, you earn money when people click on it and it's up to Google what kinda adverts are being showed. I can however ban certain links. You can get a lot of options with it. But I may not ask you to go to the website and to click on the banners. To bad that I was thinking about asking you all to..... Well, can't do that. Sorry folks!

One last thing: I know that most of you don't care if there are banners on the GGSearch website, but for the few of you that do care:
"Come one dudes, it's from Google, forgive me but I could not resist it!!"

Choose "Searchtool Options" > "enable custom browser" > With the dropdown box; Choose Mozilla > browse to Firefox application. Save and close

Now you can GGSearch with Firefox too!

Christian Ghisler created a new version of Total commander.
Unfortunately the parallel port connection no longer works
in this version, which was only detected after the release.
Another update is planned for next week. If you don't use
this function, you should update to version 6.03 now.
So my old laptop has to wait for an upgrade..

Started coding again.
Time to pick up all the pieces and start coding again. Dunno how you guys & girls are going but life at the programming lane was kinda quiet here. My working machine is a totall mess and needs to have a fresh start again. I also took the time to rebuild GGSearch. In time some things get clearer and when I looked at some of my code, I knew it was time to do it over. Not that it will be different for the GGSearchers but for me it looks much better now. There are some more browser that can work with GGSearch (need a confirmation about the firefoxbrowser and GGSearch so please if you are able to, try it and let me know... ) and there is a buzz about some things that may be hapening in the future.
800.000 hits where made with the seachtool. Now I know that most people disable this function (Searchtool options> Enable counter) so I think it is a great thing. Must say that now Google has it's toolbar and deskbar I expected to see lesser hits but all with all it stays steady.. Now I need a few more weeks to get GGSearch into one stable package again. Now it's time to earch for my eyes, as you can see on the picture I seem to have lost them somewhere :P

Well, I know for sure that this is going to be the longest and important project of my life.
It wasn't difficult at all to create the first base. But because I can't build it at all myself, I will let the final (almost all) developing over to my wife.. :-) I love you girl! We expect to have all the hardware ready around the beginning of July.

Then we need a few years to get the system and software to blend in, but we hope the result will be great..

Done it, tested it with the beta testers, it worked, I removed it.
Nice to know that I can make it but I will not build it.

I was this close in building an adware/spyware program into GGSearch.
Here is why: The money!

A Searchtool like GGSearch can make between the 10000 and 40000 Dollar by installing adware or spyware on your machine. Now that is a big load of money for somebody like me. I could host GGSearch a few years for that. Could I live with that karmic burden on my shoulders? How much is your soul worth?

After consulting my wife, family and friends I decided that I am not going to do it. Although we could use every Euro I can get my hands on, it isn't worth it. GGSearch gets some donations so that will ease the pain a bit.. It's nice to get a few dollars a month. Almost as nice as the thank you emails I get from GGSearchers. It keeps me continuing my GGSearch Quest.

Now if you are a nice sponsor and you want to show yourself with GGSearch, let me tell you now:
I don't know what people are looking for.
I do not have advanced statistics.
I don't know how many people are comming from whatever country.
Its getting worse: Yes the users can disable the splash! So it could be a onetime view.

But I know this:
The searchtool is downloaded between the 50 and 150 times a day.
My searchtool users are advanced Google users. (Yes you are! admid it!)
There are a few thousend tools arround on this planet.

56k to the Wallstreet Journal

So here I sit behind a 56k modem because the cable guy needs to fix something.. Me and the cable company don't understand each other. They can't understand why I need to stay connected and I don't understand why I they don't wanna come whenever I want ;-)
Now a nice voice behind a helpdesk is telling me that wednesday morning a cable repair guy will be available and because I installed and wired everything ok they will charge nothing. Still I am a bit #### about me being not connected to the inet. Time to ask a refund!

The sound of a modem is rather fun to hear, didn't hear it in a long time. Kinda frustrating that my emailboxes are getting spammed with viruses. It is no fun the retrieve about 400 spams a day but when some of them are viruses you really get nuts.

There is some nicer news too:
GGSearch got mentioned in the Wallstreet journal! It is a nice article but you need to be a member to view it.

Yesterday I demolished my old desk, so now I type his on the floor. Yes it is moving time!

Now we have to wait until those people come over to put the tiles in before we can move the bigger pieces. We already have a nice and big table, with 6 chairs around it. It looks so great that it is a pitty that our older stuff will fill that room too ;-)

Now the good thing about us not moving today is that it leaves me some time to code at GGSearch! Not that I will release a beta soon, to much to do before that time comes. I am not going to write here what to expect because last time I did that some very big companie also released their tool with some of those goodies in it . No names, No names ;-) Just kidding (You hope)! We know it was coincedental.. Wasn't it?
